Storyline: Quantum technology moves into real-world use in China [Voice_over] In China, quantum technology is swiftly moving from labs to practical deployment, fueling a new era of innovation across multiple sectors. In the showroom of a Beijing tech firm, a sleek-looking model of an optical quantum computer is on display, a state-of-the-art machine with processing power that’s more than 100 times greater than today's standard systems. The company’s latest model boasts a capacity of 1,000 qubits, setting the stage for vast real-world potential. And in some sectors, like AI, finance, and biopharmaceuticals, quantum technology is already being harnessed. [Sound_bite] Ma Yin, founder, Boson Quantum: "By using limited data to build a model that simulates natural evolutionary rules, we can then leverage AI to generate tens of thousands of new data points. For instance, for a specific protein that hasn't yet evolved in nature, we can predict its future structure. This allows us to proactively design vaccines, which would be a tremendous asset for public safety." [Voice_over] Across China, research in quantum technology is gaining significant momentum, with experts predicting a wave of commercial applications in the coming years. In March, scientists unveiled a superconducting quantum computer prototype named "Zuchongzhi 3.0", which is said to process quantum random circuit sampling tasks a quadrillion times faster than the world's most powerful supercomputer. And in the field of quantum communications, major Chinese telecom operators have achieved key breakthroughs in long-distance optical transmissions. Data from CCID Consulting shows that the value of the country's quantum computing industry will reach some 1.6 billion U.S. dollars this year, maintaining an annual growth rate of over 30 percent.
