Je suis un robot! French nuclear firm unveils humanoid robot that will help run its facilities. French nuclear group Orano has unveiled the first intelligent humanoid robot to be used in the nuclear sector. The firm has partnered with technology giant Capgemini for the launch. The robot, named Hoxo, has been deployed at Orano Melox’s École des Métiers training facility in the Gard region of southern France. Equipped with embedded artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced sensors, Hoxo is capable of real-time perception, autonomous navigation, executing technical gestures, and interacting with humans. Designed to mimic human movement, the robot is intended to work alongside staff inside nuclear facilities — including in environments considered too hazardous for human intervention. Over the next four months, Orano's innovation teams will carry out a testing phase to assess the robot’s performance, focusing on mobility, precision and AI integration. The company says the agile and scalable robotic platform could enhance industrial efficiency and provide valuable support for operators.
