Tourists feed fish in front of a giant Buddha statue in Bangkok, Thailand.

Footage shows the holidaymakers onboard a wooden long-tail motorboat during a scenic ride on the canals in the Thai capital.

They stopped near a golden Buddha statue and began tossing chunks of bread into the waterway.

Schools of hungry fish were seen churning up the water as they jostled for a lion's share of the food scraps on Sunday morning.

Bangkok was once known as the 'Venice of the East' because of its sprawling network of canals throughout the city. The waterways were used for transport and trade but many have been converted to roads.

However, commercial ferries continue to be used by the government as an affordable method of transport for commuters. They are also used by tourists for sightseeing trips.
