Cars collide at crossroads before spinning into cafe injuring customers
This is the shocking moment two cars collided at a crossroads before spinning into a cafe and injuring customers.
A white pickup truck was seen running a red light and crashing into a Toyota Vios on the side lane in Khon Kaen, Thailand.
CCTV footage shows the moment they slammed into each other, sending both vehicles spinning in opposite directions on November 23.
The sedan was flung toward the middle of the road, while the pickup veered to its left and drifted toward diners on the pavement.
At least 12 people were hurt, ten of them customers enjoying coffee at the outside seating of the Sri Chan Nom Sod cafe, and the other two from inside the Toyota.
Cafe customer Boonchok Lertchaiyawat, 27, who witnessed the incident from a few tables away, said: 'I was at the front part. I saw the pickup truck driving past the red light.
'Then the truck crashed into the sedan before the vehicle passed in front of me and struck other customers.
'I was shocked and ran away to contact the rescue team.'
Rescuers arrived at the scene and treated customers with various injuries, including broken bones.
The pickup truck driver, later identified as Kukrit Panya, 41, who works as an automatic door mechanic, tried to flee the scene, but a cafe worker captured photos of him.
Kukrit was later apprehended by a patrol officer from Mueang Khon Kaen Police Station in front of a hotel.
He was questioned and underwent an alcohol test, which came back positive. The driver admitted to drinking two bottles of liquor before heading home after an errand.
Investigations are ongoing, while Kukrit remains in custody awaiting charges.
