This is the chaotic moment a runaway lorry with a full load and no brakes crashed into 12 vehicles.

The out-of-control truck, travelling downhill, ploughed into multiple cars and a public bus on a busy road in Medellin, Colombia.

Dramatic CCTV footage shows the heavy goods vehicle, carrying 17 tonnes of material, descending onto the motorway, ramming the bus before colliding with other cars ahead on November 22.

The public bus can be seen veering off its lane into the opposite road before bouncing into a roadside field.

Local media reported that three individuals were injured, including the bus driver and two occupants of a private vehicle, and were immediately taken to a hospital.

Pablo Ruiz, Secretary of Mobility of Medellin, confirmed that 12 vehicles were damaged, including one declared a total loss.

Twenty traffic agents and judicial police rushed to the scene to confirm the cause of the crash.

Preliminary information suggests a failure in the braking system of the lorry, a hypothesis that technical experts will now investigate.
