This is the dramatic moment a stranded dog was freed after getting its paw wedged in a power cable clamp - leaving it dangling helplessly above the ground.

Footage filmed on 14 November in Mongolia shows a quick-thinking passer-by leaping into action after spotting the distressed animal.

The man said the starving dog had been tugging at a scrap of fur-like material caught on the clamp, apparently mistaking it for food.

But in a desperate attempt to pull it free, the animal's paw became trapped - leaving it stuck and unable to escape.

In the clip, the concerned bystander can be seen shouting for nearby workers, who rush over to help safely release the frightened dog.

Thanks to their efforts, the lucky pup was able to scamper away unharmed.
