Footage has emerged appearing to show a man suspected of shooting two National Guard soldiers being stretchered into an ambulance in Washington, D.C.

The filmer told Newsflare: "I was staying on the 7th floor of the Club Quarters hotel, overlooking Farragut Square, when the shooting occurred.

"I heard the shots and, some time later, made a short video from my window. I captured what I believe to be the suspect of the Farragut Square shooting being loaded into the ambulance."

According to reports, the suspected shooter has been named as Rahmanullah Lakanwal, a 29-year-old Afghan national.

It has also been reported that the suspect worked with the CIA in Afghanistan.

The two injured soldiers, Andrew Wolfe and Sarah Beckstrom, have come through surgery after being in critical conditions on Wednesday.
