China: Wild red fox spotted roaming through snow in Xinjiang
A wild red fox, a species under second-class state protection in China, was captured on video roaming leisurely in the snowfield in Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. In the video recorded on Wednesday in the prefecture's Mulei Kazak Autonomous County, the fox was seen stepping lightly across the snow, occasionally pausing to look back. Its agile movements against the backdrop of distant mountains and snow-covered fields created a peaceful winter scene of harmonious coexistence between animals and Nature. The red fox is a mammal of the Canidae family, characterized by its slender body, pointed snout, and large ears. Its back is predominantly covered in brownish-yellow or reddish-brown fur, while the upper parts of its ears and the outer sides of its limbs are black. It has a thick, bushy tail with a distinctive white tip. In recent years, the local government in Mulei County has implemented measures including returning grazing land to grassland and carrying out ecological restoration to improve the habitat for wild animals. As the local ecological environment continues to get better, biodiversity in the area has become increasingly rich. SHOTLIST: Changji Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, northwest China - Nov 26, 2025 1. Aerial shot of snowfield, mountains; 2. Aerial shots of red fox stepping, running; 3.
