The traditional flag hoisting ceremony at Ajmer Dargah ahead of the annual 814th Urs celebrations was conducted under tight security Wednesday in light of two recent bomb threats directed at the holy site.

The commando battalion of Ajmer police covered every nearby roof and window as members of the Gori family of Bhilwara hoisted the flag on the Dargah's main entrance, called Buland Darwaza, as per tradition. Urs is a celebration of the death anniversary of the revered Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti.

The dargah had to be evacuated and searched twice earlier this month after hoax bomb calls were received. All cameras pointed toward the dargah and surrounding area, as well as those inside the premises, are being monitored 24/7.

Dargah is a shrine or tomb of a revered Sufi saint, with the most famous being the Ajmer Sharif Dargah in Ajmer, Rajasthan, India, the resting place of Khwaja Moin-ud-Din Chishti (Garib Nawaz), attracting millions of devotees seeking blessings.
