Two children were injured Thursday, Jan. 1, when a pickup truck slid down a snow-covered hill and struck them while they were playing, according to local authorities.
The children, ages 8 and 10, were playing in the snow when the vehicle lost control on the icy incline. Both victims were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment; their current conditions have not been made public.
Istanbul police have launched a search for the driver of the pickup, who reportedly fled the scene following the collision.
The incident occurred as heavy snowfall across the city created hazardous road conditions on New Year’s Day.
