GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE - JAN. 3: A 6-month-old Palestinian girl Mais Moammar, who is under treatment at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip, is unable to receive the necessary treatment due to closed border crossings and inadequate medical facilities.

Mais has been suffering a heart defect, a single kidney, kidney stones, and severe malnutrition, that her health condition is getting worse day by day.

Doctors emphasize that the necessary treatment cannot be provided in Gaza and that the baby must be transferred abroad immediately.

“A referral was issued for Mais Moammar a long time ago. However, we could not transfer her because the border crossings are closed,” said doctor Mohammad Abid, Director of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Nasser Hospital.

He stressed that the prolonged closure of the border crossings has paralyzed the health system.

Mais’s father Murad also underlined that there is no sufficient medicines and medical facilities in the Gaza Strip to treat his daughter's health problems.

“Our baby's condition is critical, and we want her to be transferred outside Gaza for treatment,” he added.

Since the ceasefire agreement came into effect on Oct. 10, the Israeli army has committed hundreds of violations, killing 420 Palestinians and wounding 1,184 others, according to the Health Ministry.

The ceasefire halted Israel’s two-year war that killed nearly 71,400 Palestinians, most of them women and children, injured more than 171,200 others, and left the enclave in ruins. But despite the ceasefire, Israel’s deadly attacks on Gaza continue.

Despite a ceasefire agreement taking effect in October, Israel continues to keep Gaza's crossings largely closed, preventing the entry of mobile homes and reconstruction materials.
