Iranian navy ship Makran arrives in Cape Town for BRICS naval exercises
Cape Town, South Africa - 8 January 2026: The IRINS Makran, the largest vessel in the naval fleet of the Islamic Republic of Iran has arrived in Cape Town. The ship sailed into the Simon’s Town naval base at just after 2pm. As it arrived it passed a Chinese naval support vessel which arrived two days ago. The ships are in South Africa territorial waters to take part in naval exercises between BRICS nations.
