[Voiceover] New information from China's Ministry of Ecology and Environment shows that the country's carbon emissions trading has maintained strong growth in recent years, facilitating the transformation to green power generation. Since its launch in July of 2021, China's national carbon market saw transaction values exceed 2.5 billion U.S. dollars last year, a record high. The price of carbon dioxide emissions quotas reached nearly 14 U.S. dollars per ton in November of last year. [Soundbite] Xu Mingyi, general manager, Shanghai Environment and Energy Exchange: "As of July 15, the market reported a trading volume of over 670 million tons of carbon emissions and a total turnover of over 6 billion U.S. dollars, indicating a continual expansion of transaction scale." [Voiceover] Carbon trading, which allows for the buying and selling of permits to emit carbon dioxide or other greenhouse gases, is regarded as one of the critical tools to help reduce carbon footprints and meet emissions targets.
