Passengers rescued after wooden boat capsizes off in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi, Philippines
On January 19, 2026, in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi, Philippines, @da.tch.647850 shared a video capturing a dramatic sea rescue. In the video, people are seen floating in the sea after an old wooden boat, the M/L Sitti Nur, capsized amid rough waves between Simunul and Bongao while en route to Bongao pier. Emergency responders, including the Philippine Coast Guard and provincial disaster teams, intervened promptly and successfully rescued all 12 passengers and crew clinging to the overturned vessel’s hull, bringing everyone safely to shore in Bongao.
