Crew from the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) rescued day-trippers when their dinghy capsized off the coast of Cornwall.

HM Coastguard tasked the volunteer lifeboat team to respond after the boat overturned 500 metres off Porthpean Beach in St Austell Bay on June 27.

The emergency watercraft launched at 1:45 pm and reached the scene approximately 20 minutes later.

Before their arrival, a safety RIB from Porthpean Sailing Club had launched and successfully righted the dinghy. During the incident, the mast had snapped in two.

Footage shows emergency responders heading towards the scene on a sunny Friday afternoon.

The safety boat began towing the damaged dinghy while the RNLI crew checked on the sailor involved.

There were no injuries reported, and the sailor confirmed they could continue without further assistance.

After confirming the situation was under control, the lifeboat remained briefly on the scene before being stood down by the Coastguard.

The RNLI saves lives at sea through its 24-hour search and rescue services around the UK and Ireland. With 238 lifeboat stations and over 240 lifeguard units across the UK and the Channel Islands, its volunteers are dedicated to maritime safety.
