CCTV footage from AIIMS Bhopal captures a chilling moment inside a hospital lift, where a masked man turns a routine ride into a moment of fear. The incident occurred in an elevator located behind the blood bank, an area expected to be secure for hospital staff and patients.

The victim, Varsha Soni, an attendant in the gynaecology department, was alone when the suspect entered the lift. Appearing calm, he briefly spoke to her, pretending to ask for directions. As the elevator reached the third floor, the situation changed abruptly. The man lunged forward, snatched her mangalsutra, and fled through the staircase toward the IPD gate.

In the sudden attack, her pearl necklace snapped and fell to the floor. The woman was left shaken, with no security personnel present in the area at the time.

She later informed hospital authorities and lodged a complaint at Bagsewania police station. Police are now examining CCTV footage to identify the suspect, who concealed his face with a mask and cap.

The incident has sparked widespread concern over safety inside one of Bhopal’s most prominent medical institutions, raising serious questions about security arrangements within hospital premises.
