Heavy rain and strong winds marked the arrival of Storm Chandra in North Oxfordshire, as severe weather swept across large parts of the UK.

Footage filmed by Pete Sanford shows rain lashing residential streets under blustery conditions, with trees and roadside vegetation bending in the wind as the storm system moved in.

Named by the Met Office, Storm Chandra has brought widespread disruption, triggering more than 100 flood alerts and warnings, forcing the closure of hundreds of schools, and leading to flight cancellations and travel delays.

Forecasters warned that gusts of up to 80 mph could hit parts of southern and central England, increasing the risk of flooding, fallen trees, and power outages as the storm continues to track across the British Isles.
