Spectacular video has emerged from Gosford, Australia, of a physics experiment involving Oobleck - a non-Newtonian liquid made from cornflour, water and food colouring.

The video, shot on August 18, shows the unusual substance dancing with particular music frequency.

"When music of a particular frequency plays it forms a solid shape and bounces and moves around like a dancer, but when the music changes frequency it behaves more like a liquid," the filmer wrote online.

In our final Year 12 Physics class today we made Oobleck from cornflour, water and food colouring. We then placed a small amount on the top of a loud speaker and played music through it. Oobleck is a very unusual substance (Non-Newtonian liquid) and its behave like a liquid and a solid depending on the circumstances. When music of a particular frequency plays it forms a solid shape and bounces and moves around like a dancer, but when the music changes frequency it behaves more like a liquid.
