South African police used teargas and stun grenades against members of the 'Economic Freedom Fighters' (EFF) advancing on Brackenfell High School in Cape Town on Friday (November 20).

The police fired stun grenades and teargas at the crowds after a disagreement over how many protesters would be allowed to march to the school.

The crowds can be seen fleeing in different directions after stun grenades and teargas is set off by the police.

The protests emerged out of an issue related to a prom hosted by parents of students who attend the school, which excluded black children.

The EFF is South Africa's third-largest political party.
