Firefighters broke ice to rescue a man trapped in a frozen river in northern China.

The video, filmed in the city of Xingtai in Hebei Province on December 18, shows a fireman with safety ropes and a rescue stretcher using his hands to break the ice on a frozen river to create a path to a trapped man.

After the fireman reached the trapped man, he gave a lifebuoy thrown from the shore to the man and another fireman broke the ice to open a way for them.

The rescuers on the shore then pulled the rope together to bring the man back to safety.

Fortunately, the man was not injured seriously.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
