Stunning lake views

The recent temperature drop and northerly air flow has resulted in crystal clear air in the Lake District. Early morning walkers have been rewarded with blue skies & stunning views over the Lakes.

Friars Crag, a promontory jutting into Derwentwater was described by Ruskin as one of the three most beautiful scenes in Europe. Walkers often pause for a while sitting on the bench and taking in the stunning views over the lake.

Friars Crag achieved its name because it was believed to be the embarkment point for monks making a pilgrimage to St Herbert’s Island, located south west of the crag.
