Quick-thinking Chinese neighbour uses bamboo stick to save drowning woman from river
A quick-thinking neighbour saved a woman who accidentally slipped into a river while washing her clothes in eastern China.
The heroic video was filmed in the city of Suzhou in Jiangsu Province on October 23.
From the window of her home, Ms Jin, a neighbour, witnessed the incident. Without a moment's hesitation, she rushed out with a mop to try and pull the woman to safety.
However, realising the mop was too short, Jin swiftly returned to her home, this time armed with a long bamboo pole. Her quick thinking paid off as she managed to successfully pull the drowning woman to safety.
Jin said: "When you see someone in danger, you don't think, you just act. My only fear was not being able to save her in time."
That evening the rescued woman presented Jin with gifts.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
