Russia has claimed that its forces have taken a position from the Ukrainian side north of Bakhmut.

The first-person-view footage purports to show destroyed Ukrainian war machines as Russian forces advance on the Ukrainian position.

The images appear to show a gun battle between Russian and Ukrainian forces.

The images were obtained from the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) on Tuesday, November 7, along with a statement claiming: 'An assault group of Ivanovo paratroopers captured and cleared a stronghold of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.'

The Russian MoD added: 'During active defence, assault units of the Ivanovo Guards Airborne Forces successfully carry out the tasks of destroying Ukrainian formations north of Artemovsk [Bakhmut].

'Warriors of the 'winged infantry' as part of small assault groups, from several directions, quietly approached the stronghold of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, where, according to intelligence data, one of the units of the Ukrainian formations was preparing to move towards our defensive positions, and quickly attacked them.

'During the battle, the paratroopers were able to capture and destroy one BMP-1 unit and a Western-made light tank. Subsequently, our units gained a foothold in the occupied positions of the enemy, who hastily retreated.

'But the airborne assault group did not weaken its onslaught. When the enemy tried to counterattack, the fire support group of the Ivanovo paratroopers worked on him, which, using fire from the AGS-17 'Plamya' automatic grenade launcher, put him to flight and, having destroyed several militants, forced them to abandon their plans.'

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, in what the Kremlin is still calling a 'special military operation'.
