A Scooter rider was injured as a traffic police officer wielded a baton in an aggressive enforcement incident in southern China.

CCTV footage filmed in Hezhou City in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on November 29, shows a traffic police officer forcefully striking a scooter with a baton, causing the rider to fall off and lay injured on the ground, only to be later transported to the hospital in an ambulance.

Following the incident, an employee from the local traffic police unit disclosed that an internal investigation was underway. The employee admitted that the enforcement of traffic rules in the area had been particularly stringent.

"Leaders came down yesterday to inquire. The enforcement was too harsh, and the officer, being young and inexperienced, acted impulsively," the employee said.

The traffic police department expressed deep concern over the incident and initiated a thorough investigation by the police supervision department.

The officer involved has been suspended from duty and will face serious consequences based on the investigation's findings. The department pledged to reinforce the education and management of its force, standardise police conduct, and continuously improve the quality of law enforcement.
