Store employees heroically cut free boy's jacket trapped in escalator in China
Store employees heroically cut free a boy's jacket trapped in an escalator in central China.
The video was filmed in Yichang City in Hubei Province on January 25.
The boy, who was sitting on the moving escalator, was suddenly yanked backwards and pinned to the ground, his arm trapped, as his grandmother, who had already stepped off the escalator, turned in horror to find him in distress.
In a race against time, alert supermarket staff members quickly hit the emergency button to stop the escalator. As the boy remained trapped, with his jacket tightly wound in the machinery, bystanders frantically called emergency services while attempting to free him by cutting through the jacket.
Firefighters swiftly arrived at the scene and, in a combined effort with the staff and onlookers, managed to rescue the boy.
Miraculously, aside from his ripped jacket, the boy was unharmed.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
