A tornado is caught on camera wreaking havoc as it rips through homes in northern Thailand earlier this year.

Onlookers recorded the freak storm on May 17 at 5.30pm.

The twister tears across the gloomy horizon uprooting wooden homes and pushing over power lines in Nakhon Sawan province.

The filmer said: ‘’This was a really bad storm. There was big, big rain and a lot of homes were finished.

‘’I’ve never seen a typhoon like this before. This does not happen a lot in Thailand.’'

The storm was one of the worst of the year in Thailand in 2017 and left hundreds of homes destroyed and without power.
