Motorcyclists escape death after truck smashes into traffic island and flattens them
This is the terrifying moment an out-of-control truck smashes into an island and flattens six motorcycle riders.
The runaway lorry carrying felled trees suffered a snapped brake cable as it hurtled towards the roundabout in Kampong Cham, Cambodia, on Tuesday evening (May 15).
CCTV footage showed the delivery wagon hit the roundabout before smashing into a yellow minivan and taking out six people on mopes.
Miraculously, nobody was seriously injured and the victims were taken to hospital for treatment to cuts and bruises.
Police said they had detained the driver, Kim Lun, 29, for tests while they investigate the crash.
Traffic cop Sam Tarn said: ''The first investigation shows that the brakes malfunctioned due to a broken cable. Evidence is being gathered in order to establish culpability.''
