Boat crew rescues baby sea turtles trapped in lobster pot
This is the touching moment a boat crew rescues two baby turtles stuck in a lobster pot.
The marine creature faced a painful death after getting tangled in the nets near the Similan Islands off the coast of southern Thailand.
But passing speedboat captain Sathaporn Karimkarn spotted the creature struggling as the net floated on the surface of the sea.
Sathaporn, who had just dropped off tourists from a snorkelling trip, floated over to the marine creature and two crew members hauled it aboard.
They cut the turtle free and released it back into the ocean at 6pm on May 14.
Captain Sathaporn said: ''From a distance, I thought it was a big fish so I decided to continue towards the pier to send back our day trip guests first.
"But the image stayed in my mind, and on our way back we stopped by at nets and found two baby turtles instead.
''We decided to help them and bring those fishnets aboard to release the trapped turtles. Luckily it was easy and I hope they won't get caught again. I said to them 'lesson learned buddy'.
''It's easy to blame the fisherman, but they're just doing their jobs trying to catch food. The important thing is that the turtles have been saved.''
