Question - A helium balloon is attached with some long ribbon to an empty coke can. The weight of the can down is slightly larger then the upward buoyancy force of the helium balloon.
What happens when you lower the balloon to the ground and then let it go?

Answer - The balloon of course rises until the ribbons take the weight of the can. As the balloon has upward momentum it lifts the can, which then causes the balloon to slow. Eventually the balloon stops rising as the can pulls it back down to the ground.
