A bus driver was horrified after catching this slippery fare dodger – a 10ft long python.

Suteera Asakati, 52, had parked up to refuel at a petrol station in Samut Prakan, Thailand, on Monday night.

But when he returned from paying at the kiosk, another motorist ran over to Suteera to warn him that a snake had crawled under the bus.

Suteera kneeled down peered into the engine but recoiled in fright when the 10ft long reptile hissed back at his face.

The bus driver said: ''Nobody gets to ride for free. Even if you try to hide under the bus.

''I was a little bit shocked when I saw the snake. It was moving around and very close to my face.

''I'm happy that we noticed the snake because it would probably have been killed if the engine had started.''

Rescue workers arrived and spent two hours removing the unlikely passenger on the public number 145 orange bus. Passengers had to be transferred to another service.

Nittarat Junda from the Samut Prakan Rescue Foundation said the snake had wrapped itself around the wheel chassis and slithered away every time they tried to catch it.

He added: ''The snake was crawling through the parts of the engine so it took a long time to catch. It has been released back into nature now.''
