This was the moment a group students made an extremely dangerous trek in the Himalayas to reach college.

A small slip on the steep terrain would have meant falling at least 25 feet.

In the video, captured in Pithorgarh district of Uttarkhand, a terrified girl is helped by her brave friend, to get through a treacherous stretch.

About three hundred families from the Umachch village in Darma valley were cut off after a landslide buried the only road to their village early this month.

As it took several days for the local administration to clear the road, people were forced to walk across steep slopes of Himalayas to tend to their work.

A resident of Dharchula, Deepinder Singh, 26, said: ''Though the road has been cleared now, people of nearly 14 villages face this situation every few months.”

“We want the government to build a new road,” he said.
