Over a year now that Newham residents in a tower block in Manor Park, East London are experiencing water supply cutting off due to a ongoing problem with the water pump. Residents above the ground floor are mostly affected and are very frustrated because one minute there is plenty water and all of a sudden there is nothing. This summer gone was a nightmare especially when the weather was hot, complaining to the council regarding this ongoing issue is getting ridiculous. Residents have been complaining for over a year and even tonight as I post this someone can be heard working on the problem. Imagine having a shower and you can not rinse off the soap or your in the middle of washing out the shampoo out your hair and all of a sudden NO WATER! They are elderly, disabled and young families with small children living in the block and it seems like Newham Council don’t seem to care about their residents. There are also other issues with the whole building to do with damp and mould with isn’t very good for residents who have asthma and other respiratory problems. I’m actually one resident who lives in the building with asthma and other illnesses and I was offered this property on health grounds. This home isn’t safe for my health it’s a danger to mine and my son’s health who also suffers from asthma. I’ve lived in the building 5 years and have asthma for 19 years. In the time I’ve lived here I’ve had to have my asthma medication changed twice in the past year and now my doctor is quite concerned and have asked me to contact the Council about moving, which I have, still waiting
