'Agitated' elephant sends mahout to the ground during training session
This is the moment an agitated elephant shakes his head and sends a mahout to the ground during a training session.
The elephant, called K Unnikuttan, had been brought to take part at a temple festival in Thrissur in South India.
A team of mahouts worked to prepare him for the ceremony on January 16. But Unnikuttan refused their commands and shook down the rookie Mahout, who was on top.
The mahout fell down and fled for his life, but did not suffer any injury.
The elephant did not hurt anyone and tamely stood next to a senior mahout who was on the ground issuing commands.
Temple officials said Unnikuttan was a docile animal but was probably agitated as he had been fitted with artificial tusks.
“Unnikuttan is a tuskless male, so he had been fitted with artificial tusks to make him more attractive for the crowd. Elephants are usually irritated till they get used to the new tusks,” said an official.
