A video has emerged of an injured eagle being rescued. The incident took place on Apr. 5 in Ashok Nagar area in Hyderabad, the capital of Telengana state in southern India.

Footage showed the injured bird moving in pain and take shelter under a concrete stair. Two men are seen following the injured bird and later they pick it up slowly and put it in a basket.

Bird rescuer Panneeru Teja, who carried out the operation, said he received a call informing him of an injured eagle and rushed to the spot.

Teja said the bird has sustained the injury a week ago and one of its wings was severely damaged. The cause of the injury was said to an iron rod and a sharp string known as manja, which is used by locals while flying kite. The string is made by adding crushed glass with fabric.

The bird has since been rescued and taken to a clinic.
