A 15-feet python snake was rescued by forest officials in eastern India. The operation took place on Apr. 4 in Kalimpong district in West Bengal state.

Visuals showed rescuers pulling an injured snake from a river bank. It was then carried by rescuers, who said they have never caught such a big snake in the region.

The snake was seen lying on the riverbank in Jhalong area of the district by locals, who alerted the forest officials of the reptile’s existence.

Men were heard the reptile could be saved if they acted quickly, but would not survive in the wild.

Reports said the snake was taken to a veterinary clinic, where it’s recuperating. Later, it would be translocated to Gorumara National Park.
