These houses were left perilously close to falling into a river after monsoon rains caused landslides in the Philippines.

The torrential downpours battered the capital region around Manila on July 1 causing flooding as the country enter the typhoon season this month.

Residents in Caloocan City looked on anxiously after the banks next to a river collapsed with landslides. Several houses were left hanging over the steep drop into the water below.

Abhie Gail Directo, whose uncle's home is seen in the video, said: "The non-stop rain has made the land soft, and the flash floods have taken away most of the house's foundation. We are scared that the affected houses will be next.

''They could fall into the river unless building work is done on the foundations. I hope someone from the government can help us."
