This is the moment a flash flood surged into a village in Indonesia.

Footage shows a raging brown deluge flowing through the street between homes in Bogor on March 2.

Residents were trapped in their homes, watching from their balconies as the flood swept outside their properties.

The water submerged houses in low-lying areas reaching up to chest-deep.

Resident Dicky Asmara Hawe said: 'The river overflowed and reached the roads. We were all shocked that the flood was flowing outside our houses.'

Heavy rains hit Bogor Regency earlier this week, which caused the overflow of the Ciliwung River. Hundreds of families have been evacuated.

Due to severe flooding and landslides in the region, Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto declared a disaster emergency until March 17 to focus resources on rescue and relief.

Indonesia's climate has the dry season, typically from June to September, and the rainy or monsoon season, usually from October to March.
