House collapses into river as heavy rain causes banks to weaken
This is the dramatic moment a house collapsed into a river as heavy rain weakened the banks.
Footage captured by resident Marlo Cordero Avero shows the structure crumbling into murky waters after recent downpours from Typhoon Co-may further eroded its already weakened foundation in the Philippines.
Marlo said: 'The previous typhoon caused flooding, which was worsened by the prolonged southwest monsoon, inundating and eroding several areas - including the land where the house had been built.'
The home had been vacated before the incident occurred, preventing any injuries during the incident in the village of Bayaan in Dolores, Abra, on August 1.
Marlo added: 'Calling on the authorities to please look into what is happening in our village. May there be immediate, concrete, long-term, and reliable interventions to help mitigate the losses and dangers.'
Typhoon Co-may, locally known as Emong, made landfall over Agno in Pangasinan at 10:40 pm on Thursday, July 24, bringing maximum sustained winds of up to 120 km/h and gusts reaching 165 km/h.
Co-may is forecast to make a second landfall over La Union or Ilocos Sur on Friday. It is the strongest storm to affect this region in 16 years.
