A motorcyclist rides his overloaded bike with a family of FOUR balanced on the back with planks of wood.

The vehicle was modified with the dangerous additions to make benches either side for passengers to sit on.

While the father was riding pillion, his young wife sat to the right of him holding a baby in her arms.

The teenage son was on his right and behind him was a pile of bamboo wicker bags.

Onlooker Michael Ampatuan said motorcycles modified like this were known locally as habal-habal.

He filmed the habal-habal in North Cotabato, the Philippines, on July 25.

He said: ''Habal-habal is more popular in the rural areas where there are no proper roads which makes it harder for bigger vehicles to enter. It's a convenient way of carrying many people but it's also risky.''

Driving a habal-habal is banned in cities in the Philippines over health and safety fears.
