An out-of-control car slammed into a utility pole and knocked it over in eastern China.

The terrifying moment, captured in Nantong city in Jiangsu province on August 29, shows a white car smashing into a utility pole on the side of a road and knocking it over.

Smoke then started to rise from the car as two people exited the wrecked vehicle.

An owner of a nearby restaurant quickly used a fire extinguisher to put any possible fire out.

According to reports, the driver was confirmed to be driving under the influence.

Fortunately, no one was injured. The case is being investigated.

8月29日早晨6点半左右，南通市区兴盛路突然传来一声巨响。一辆小轿车由于行驶速度太快，失控向右偏离，一连撞倒了路边的一根电线杆和一盏路灯。
这是路边监控拍摄下的画面。事发当日早晨6点22分，市区兴盛路南北方向，飞速驶来一辆白色小轿车。
猛烈撞击瞬间，火光四起。顺势倒下的路灯，不偏不倚地砸向了小轿车前脸。没过多久，从车上下来两个人，其中身穿白色T恤的男子，正是肇事司机。
所幸的是，事故没有造成人员伤亡。然而，留在现场的小轿车却突然冒出了滚滚浓烟。这时，附近饭店的老板，赶紧提着灭火器冲了过去。
现场看到，被撞倒的电线杆已经恢复正常，路灯仍在维修中。据了解，事故民警在现场调查时发现，肇事司机酒精呼气含量达到145mg/100ml。目前，案件正在进一步审理中。
