This is the moment two brave dogs courageously stood up to a huge monitor lizard in a canal in Thailand.

Kanawat Panpadit was woken by the dogs' bark while he was asleep in Samut Prakan, central Thailand on Wednesday (November 6) morning.

He went to his balcony and saw a huge monitor lizard in the canal behind his apartment while the two pooches squared up to it.

Footage shows the reptile using its tail to whip the water to scare the dogs but it was ineffective as the dogs continued to bark and ventured closer.

Kanawat said the dogs were so bold to approach to the monitor lizard. He said: "These two dogs were so bold that they did not show fear but barked constantly at the very huge monitor lizard."
