Alleged baby kidnapper was once again remanded in custody. Tau’s bail application started last week and has been marred by delays because of load shedding by power utility Eskom. The state alleges that Karabo kidnapped Kwahlelwa Tiwane on 16 January 2020.

Today the defence team introduced video evidence which they say proves Karabo was at school when the child was kidnapped.

The IT manager from Claremont High School, Johan Thompson, testified that the time stamp on the footage shown in court was 20 minutes ahead of real time. He stated he was only made aware of the error in time after he was asked to retrieve the footage on order to identify Karabo.

Karabo was remanded in custody and the bail application will continue on 11 February 2020 in the Bellville Magistrate's Court.
