Sudden landslide disrupts traffic, leaves hundreds stranded in north Indian state of Himachal Pradesh

Landslide struck an arterial on Saturday evening, leaving vehicles stranded for hours in the north Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. The traffic along the high mountainous stretch came to a complete standstill.

The incident took place 500 meters away from Ruturang in Sangla on February 15 in the Kinnaur district.

According to the eyewitnesses, a state-run bus traveling from Sangla to Chandigarh had to stop in its track as the driver spotted a cloud of white dust hurtling downhill from a distance. The landslide obstructed the Kinnaur-Sangla stretch and left commuters stranded for three hours.

According to reported, the alert driver was lauded by people for saving dozens of lives.


Later, the Public Works Department (PWD) workers cleared the road.

However, no casualties were reported in the incident.
