Aircraft landing at airports across Europe creating wing vortex trails looks as if the planes are "drawing in the sky".

The footage filmed at Bristol, Gatwick, Heathrow and Frankfurt airport show the smokey trails forming from the aircraft's wings.

The filmer told Newsflare: "Air flows from below the wing and out around the tip to the top of the wing in a circular fashion.

"As the air pressure in the core is low, so is the temperature - if the temperature drops as far as the 'dew-point', the water vapour present will condense, this is what we can see."

Whenever an aircraft wing is creating lift, "the air on the top surface has lower pressure relative to the bottom surface. Air flows from below the wing and out around the tip to the top of the wing in a circular fashion. An emergent circulatory flow pattern named vortex is observed, featuring a low-pressure core" (Wikipedia). As the air pressure in the core is low, so is the temperature - if the temperarture drops as far as the 'dew-point', the water vapour present will condense, this is what we can see.
