Bolstering their drive to fight the deadly COVID-19, police in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand hired an artist who dressed up as the novel coronavirus to spread awareness about the pandemic.

The incident took place in Jwalapur, Haridwar district on April 12.

The Khadkhadi police post in Haridwar started this initiative to grab the attention of the citizens on important aspects related to COVID-19.

The video shows an artist whose body is covered in green body paint with red dots, walking in the neighbourhood along with policemen while delivering the important message.

Senior superintendent of police, Haridwar district said “It was the checkpoint in-charge of Har ki Pauri in Haridwar who came up with this idea and took the help of an artist to create awareness among the people on this deadly virus.”

In the recent past, several unique methods have been implemented by law enforcement officers to spread awareness about the necessities of maintaining social distancing as well as remaining at home during the nationwide lockdown.
