With the human population in lockdown, a wild elephant was spotted gleefully strolling across the street in northern India.

The incident took place at Kosi range of the Ramnagar forest division in the state of Uttarakhand, on April 27.

With the majority of the population forced to stay at home, to limit the spread of novel coronavirus, wild animals have been spotted exploring areas that are otherwise frequented by humans.

The video shows an elephant, Gajaraj, sauntering on the streets before taking a curve into the forest.

According to sources, the road meanders between the Corbett National Park on one side and a dense forest on the other.

The elephant came onto the road thereby stalling movements of essential vehicles along that stretch.

After a long walk, the animal disappeared into the thick cover of the forest.
