CCTV footage shows a notorious road bend that has been catching out motorcycle riders.

The road curves round the entrance of the Buddhist temple in Battambang, northwestern Cambodia, and has lots of dry dirt on the surface from nearby fields.

One motorcycle rider who came speeding round the corner lost control managed to skid at the last minute to avoid a crash.

However, another young man just two days later on March 24 did not have such quick reactions and plunged into the drainage ditch. They then had to carry their vehicle out of the sewer.

One of the monks from the temple said they had put warning signs, white posts along the bend and concrete blocks at the entrance to stop accidents.

''But people still speed round the corner and crash,'' the monk added.

''They go so quickly that they can't turn and then they leave the road. We have warned people about the danger but people from outside the city travel here for the first time so they aren't familiar with it.''
