Amid the coronavirus pandemic, police personnel have come up with an innovative design to check the temperature of individuals while maintaining social distancing in northern India.

The incident took place at Chandigarh police station, Sector 29-B of Chandigarh city on May 12.

Visual shows a police officer using an extension of a thermal gun using a selfie stick to measure the individual's body temperature while a loudspeaker in the background intones the safety precautions needed to be followed during the pandemic.

Inspector and Head Constables have been commended for their idea and implementation of the same.

Social distancing is key to tackle the novel coronavirus, especially for frontline workers as the police personnel and the medical officials are being constantly exposed to the hazards of the virus.
As per official data, the disease has affected 78,003 people in India. The virus has killed 2,549 people so far.
