a rare sight : 2 Bearded Vultures flying circles in swiss Alps
2 bearded vultures are seen flying together .
Filmed from a mountaintop, edited in slowmotion.
This bird is huge, its wingspan reaches 2m80cm , over 9 feet !
The bearded vulture was completely extinct in the Alps but was re-introduced. However it is still quite rare to see them, unless you know where to find them. And even then, they rarely stay on spot but just fly by. You may wait for hours and then you see them just for a few seconds and then they're gone.
They eat mostly bones.
Their flight is majestic and they can spend long times without any wing movement.
Other vultures come visit Switzerland in summer such as the Griffon vulture and very rare Cinereous vulture, But the bearded vulture stays here all year round.
