Heavy rain, gusty winds up to 120 kilometres per hour (74 miles per hour) almost overturned a boat after cyclone Nisarga made landfall in western India's Maharashtra.

The incident took place in Mirya Beach of Ratnagiri of the eponymous district on June 3.

The visual shows strong winds almost capsizing a boat in the coastal area of the city.

Around noon of May 3, the cyclone Nisarga landfall process has begun near Alibaug which is about 60 miles away from Mumbai city, as the cyclonic cycle lays centred over the east-central Arabian Sea.

Around 10,480 citizens have been evacuated by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) till now, and more than 30,000 have gone to safe locations on their own.

BMC has identified 35 schools serving as temporary shelters for people evacuated from several regions.

The coastal areas of Maharashtra and Gujarat have been put on high alert while curfew has been imposed in Mumbai city.
